After weeks in Jerusalem’s temple, All Saints returns us to the Beatitudes. Hearing Jesus’ blessings as a flashback reveals the distance between God’s promises and our experience of grief, injustice, and suffering. Yet the crucified and risen Christ gives us reason to trust those promises, freeing us to care for our neighbors and entrust those we mourn to God’s enduring mercy.
